Top Universities in Wyoming

Wyoming has only one four-year public university — the University of Wyoming — and a network of community colleges. The state's small population limits higher education diversity, but the UW is a solid regional research institution.

University of Wyoming (Laramie)
Wyoming's only public four-year university, UW is a Carnegie R1 doctoral research institution with approximately 12,000 students. The campus sits at 7,220 feet in the Laramie Valley, backed by the Laramie Range. UW is particularly strong in energy resources (the School of Energy Resources — funded by Wyoming's energy industry — has specialized programs in coal, oil, gas, and renewable energy research), education, law, and natural sciences. The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources reflects Wyoming's ranching heritage. The UW Art Museum and the Geological Museum (with a mounted Allosaurus and Brontosaurus) are notable campus attractions.

Wyoming's Community College Network
