Ohio is a major economic powerhouse — the seventh-largest state GDP in the US, anchored by advanced manufacturing, world-class healthcare, and a diversified financial services sector.

Automotive Manufacturing
Ohio is a major automotive state — Honda's first US plant opened in Marysville in 1982; Honda's Anna Engine Plant (one of the most productive engine plants in North America) and the East Liberty Performance Center followed. Jeep/Stellantis manufactures the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator in Toledo. The LEED-certified Toledo plant is a US manufacturing landmark. General Motors and Ford have additional facilities in Ohio.

Healthcare
Cleveland Clinic — founded 1921 — is consistently ranked the #1 cardiac care hospital in the US and among the top hospitals in the world overall. The Cleveland Clinic's main campus on Euclid Avenue has become a medical research and innovation center. Ohio State Wexner Medical Center (Columbus) and University Hospitals Cleveland are also nationally significant. Ohio's healthcare sector employs more people than any other industry.

Financial Services
Fifth Third Bank (Cincinnati), KeyCorp (Cleveland), and Huntington Bancshares (Columbus) are Ohio-headquartered banks of national significance. Nationwide Insurance and Progressive Insurance are Ohio-based insurance giants. Cintas (Cincinnati), the world's largest work uniform company, and Procter & Gamble (Cincinnati — founded 1837, headquarters of globally recognized brands like Tide, Pampers, and Gillette) are major Ohio corporations.

Aerospace and Defense
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (Dayton) is the largest air force base in the US and the headquarters of the Air Force Materiel Command. GE Aviation (Cincinnati area) manufactures jet engines. Parker Hannifin (Cleveland) makes aerospace motion and control technologies.

Agriculture
Ohio is a top-10 producer of soybeans, corn, greenhouse and nursery products (the largest specialty agriculture segment — Ohio is the top producer of ornamental plants in the US), dairy, and eggs. The Amish farming communities of Holmes and Wayne Counties practice traditional agriculture at commercial scale.
